Excerpt 4

After thousands of years of continuous activity it was suggested that I use the down time for reflection and to find new perspective. I met a nature angel named Nous who provided me with several good isolated locations where I could be alone in my thoughts. He thought it would be ironic if I started by quest on Earth west of Chile at location renamed Robinson Crusoe Island. The humor was initially lost on me but after a little research it did raise a rare smile.

I arrived on the north coast of the island and gazed upon the vastness of the Pacific Ocean. It was at an elevated spot where I could look down to an inlet that had large rocks at the edge before the big blue stretched to the horizon. A patch of grass seemed inviting as I sat down and folded my legs. My eyes fixed on the rocks as waves washed over them as my mind drifted to the past.

To journey forward you have to know where you have been. Just as the sword is forged in fire we are shaped by the challenging times. The top of that list for me would be how hectic it was during times of war.

One that comes to mind was a battle on the mainland of America the century before last. The site was the area surrounding Gettysburg, Pennsylvania where 7863 life forces were collected over a three day period. It was such a task that I had the assistance of four others: Ityu, Nex, Ter and Zu.

As the mortally wounded fell one of the five of us were given the coordinates to transport to the spot. At one point I was given the coordinates of two next to each other. One in a blue uniform and the other wearing gray. They each struck a killing blow to their foe. The soldier in gray had twice thrust his blade into the stomach of the Union soldier. The last action of the blue was to push his blade into the throat of the gray. Their last moments were looking into the eyes of each other.

Who they were made no difference to me and I did not discriminate. I collected the life force from the Union soldier as his soul form was greeted by a transport angel. Then I gathered the life force from the Confederate soldier and his soul form was greeted by a different transport angel. There was a moment of confusion as the souls looked at each other. The hated was gone. The transport angels took each by the hand and they all took a couple steps before dissolving from sight.

Moments later I was next to a Union soldier who was downed by a shot through the heart at an elevated spot. As I knelt I glanced down the hill and could see Ityu, Nex and Zu all next to soldiers in blue while Ter was a bit further off next to a gray clad soldier. I could see the soul form of each and the corresponding transport angel. Yet at other locations throughout the battlefield I spotted a half dozen other souls that were still by their fallen bodies while the transport angels tried to coax them away. The transition didn't always go smoothly.

For three days the five of us continued to collect from the blues and grays alike. After every hundred or so we would rotate taking turns returning to Control to deposit the life forces before returning as quickly as possible. This was a routine we all had done many times before and repeated many times since.
