There was concern for how Gov was able to pick his victims. The only way to know when some one was due for there time to be up was to access Command. Was there another traitor among us?
An investigation was launched into all angels that had ever been in Command. Several angels rotate at each shift. The shifts are not long to ensure they maintain a prime level of alertness. One by one every angel was interviewed and their memories were probed.
A shocking discovery was made during the interview of an angel named Doran. As his memory was probed it was apparent that there was a residual memory present that wasn't his. Once that memory was recovered the truth behind the crime was revealed.
A shadow minion had transported into our domain and an instant later had merged with Doran. It happened in the blink of an eye before security could even lock on to track it. The move was a bold one.
The shadow minions tend to lurk in the shadows as their name suggests and when they wander into the light are grayish wisps. They are mostly harmless except for the fact they can merge with a host like a parasite. Once inside they could lie dormant for long periods and had the ability to possess or control the hosts actions for short periods.
The residual memory showed the shadow minion merged with Doran as he waited outside Command to enter for his shift. Once inside Command it waited for its moment and then took possession of Doran and had him access the eternal memory stream for the records of Earth and a few other target rich planets. The information was converted to an energy pulse which the shadow minion could handle although with some difficulty. At the end of his shift Doran exited Command and the shadow minion soon ended their union and disappeared in an instant.
The revelation was the first known breach in such a matter and led to increased security protocols. Now all angels are scanned in a holding area as they enter and leave Command. There threshold for the security sensors were fine tuned to pick up an intruder in an instant no matter what form they took. Even higher beings can learn from their mistakes.
Yet outside of our domain there are some limitations on our powers. Free will does hinder our prediction models and Earth and the other chosen planets all operate under that premise. Even time of death isn't a finite moment but a window of time. While it helped to know which planets were involved that mainly aided in our reaction time. It was impossible to be proactive and know who the exact targets would be.
Command is able to monitor the life sources from each planet and can tell if some one died before an angel of death was there. Whether Gov or another demon is the cause will be determined at site. If the life source is missing then it was Gov. If it was still in the area with the soul then it was one of the others. Unfortunately if the later is the case I am instructed to collect the life source and the guide angel takes the soul to the other side. The trauma of dying by a demonic force is too much to recover from.
